Moving is Never Easy

Sometimes God tells us to move and it’s never easy.  Now, I’m not talking about a physical move, although those are super hard, I’m talking about God moving us away from ourselves and towards Him.  Which is some cases could be even harder.  Case in point, this weekend….

I texted a friend because I had heard of a need for prayer partners at a concert near our house.  She readily texted me back.  Here’s our conversation :

Here’s is where the rubber meets and road the honest part of me comes out.  So, if you know me, you know I’ll stop and drop anything and pray with you.  It’s true.  I believe that God smiles when we do that for each other.  HOWEVER, praying for strangers is quite uncomfortable to me and freaks me out a bit.  Yep, true story.  But how could I say no to this request???  GAH!  So, it took some quick thought and the Holy Spirit poking me in the heart to get me to agree.  See my excuse?  “I get tired easily.”  It’s true, but a crappy excuse.  The later the night gets, the more my bed calls my name.  HAHAHAHA!  But, God knew I needed to be there.  So I agreed and we went.

I was BLOWN AWAY by the frankness of the speaker and that alone was worth me going. I will see this woman any time she comes to town.  I LOVED her.  I’m all about a woman who tells is like it is.  Who is self-proclaimed – “not so much a WOW preacher, but more so an OW preacher”!!!  😉 It was fabulous.  All about bringing women together and not tearing each other apart.  Worrying about ourselves instead of what others are doing… Awesome!  Anyway, at intermission, we went in a hallway and got our instructions on what to do during the altar call and then we got our white flags to indicate to the ones who answered the altar call that we were there to pray with them if they wanted.  This is where the freak-out should have happened for me.  BUT, during the show, God gently reminded me that I just need to trust Him.  I just need to be still.  Okie dokie God.

There was a young lady, who I know, that was there with her baby.  Another praying friend of mine had made it to her and this tearful young girl was struggling.  I took her baby so my sweet prayer partner friend could pray for her and not worry about smooshing the baby.  YEP, you read that right… I didn’t get to pray for anyone in person, but I held a baby!  And just loved on the baby.  I HELD A BABY Y’ALL… WILLINGLY!  (for my readers who don’t know, I am NOT a baby person.  I don’t willingly take babies!)  So, God showed me that He’s got me and sometimes the worst I have to do is hold a baby.  LOL!!   Not gonna lie, was a little disappointed that I didn’t get to pray for anyone, seeing as how I was not prepared…  BUT, my girlfriend from the text message, the one I came with, actually got to pray with a girl, and go figure, she knew her.  And knew how to pray for her.  Y’all.  God is so good!  He loves us!!  Sends us just what we need when we need it.  HOW COOL IS THAT?????

Honestly, in the end, I’m glad I went.  I got some ideas for another “move” I am doing and was blessed with lots of fabulous scripture.  Not to mention, some quality time with my girlfriend!  Aren’t we always glad we do something related to God?  Even if we think we are ill-equipped or nervous or just not wanting to go.  Right?  He’s always there proving His faithfulness time and time again!

So tell me, how is God moving you?  How is He challenging you??  Fill me in….

  1. Shannon loved this and would really like to go with you the next time you see this lady, if there is a ‘next time’. I have always believed in God and feel I still need to ‘let go & let God.’ Yes my dear Shannon, I need help with that. I love my quiet time and meditate as much as I can-need to work on that as well; devoting more time. Thanks for being you!! You’re one special lady and I’m so grateful our paths have crossed. Nothing happens by accident. It is all meant to be Xo
