Follow your ❤️
Trust your ♥️
Do what feels right✌🏻
These are such popular phrases today. And they make me crazy because they are such lies! They seem innocuous, but truly they are deceptive lies from Satan. And they are so commonly used by even Christians!
Let’s tackle them with scripture, shall we?
❤️Follow your heart – Why do we say this? How often has your heart lead you astray? How often has it helped you make the wrong decision? This one probably drives me the most crazy. We are relatively dumb creatures. Repeating bad habits and wandering off the straight and narrow.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9
Stop following your heart. Instead, follow God and know His heart…that will lead and guide you correctly.
♥️Trust your heart – really? Again…the heart is wicked. It’s not a reliable source of information or assistance. For instance… How often do you say to yourself – “I’m going to start working out.” And you do for about a week and then your bed beckons, or you get busy, or something else comes up. And the next thing you know, you’re not working out. Feel free to replace “working out” with whatever your temptation is.
I think the only time you can trust your heart is in this biblical instance…
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
✌🏻Do what feels good/right – UGH! Lots of stuff feels right. But not all things are good for you. Food feels right. But too much can make you fat. Sex feels good but is designed for marriage alone. And can really mess with your heart if not treated the way God designed. Laziness feels good but in the end will lead to your demise.
“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways. You have commanded us to keep Your precepts diligently. Oh, that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed, when I look into all Your commandments. I will praise You with uprightness of heart, when I learn Your righteous judgments. I will keep Your statutes; Oh, do not forsake me utterly! How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. With my lips I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word. Deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live and keep Your word. Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.” Psalm 119:1-18
I highly recommend reading the whole chapter!!
I hope this helps open your eyes as to why so many catchphrases on social media are empty lies and will always be unfulfilled promises.
