6/5/24 –
Let’s talk about comfort zones. Have you ever noticed how repetitive your life can be? Like grooves on a record, you do the same patterned behavior time after time. For instance, I get in the car and typically, I call my mom. Or one of my girls calls me and we chat.
But my parents are on vacation right now and I don’t wanna call them because I know they’re enjoying their time. So, I’m like…oh my gosh who do I call?
Because that’s my comfort zone.
But then I feel bad calling somebody and “bothering them” but at the same time I feel like I should break out of my comfort zone and do something a little “unexpected”.
But then again, does anyone randomly call anyone anymore? I can remember my friends and I used to talk on the phone for hours. And the phone was attached to a cord on the wall so you could only go so far.
And it was random.
No heads up that you were going to call.
And no caller ID, either.
You had no idea who was on the other line!
We lived life on the edge back then. LOL!!!
Or maybe you take the same route to work every day. Why not get up a little earlier and go a different route? Or if you use your GPS to go everywhere, turn it off! You might just see something beautiful you want to check out or learn about a new business or something like that.
I think it’s hard for us to break out of our comfort zones because we are so, well… Comfortable. And it’s easy to stay in the same grooves. I know that’s how I feel… give me comfort and familiar any day.
So this week I challenge you as well as myself – step out of the groove of your comfort zone.
Do something you wouldn’t normally do.
And then pop back over here and tell me about it.
Because I think that breaking out of our comfort zones will be a little bit of a growth experience for each of us.
