Walking With God

Before you read this… I did a devotion back in March – kind of deep dive on a few Hebrew words via the YouVersion Bible app written by a man named Chaim Bentorah. I was so blown away by what I learned that I bought three of his books. This is mostly what I’ll be talking about – what I have learned and continue to learn – in little snippets. The name of the book is “Hebrew Word Study – Revealing the Heart of God”. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Ok, here we go…

Journal entry from 4/1/24 :

Today I am looking at Haggai 2:17 (random, I know) with Chaim Bentorah. The Hebrew word is shadam. The last phrase “yet you turned not to me” literally reads “yet you did not walk in company with me” – Chaim says “it is sort of a picture of God and the people building the temple together, and suddenly God looks over his shoulder and sees everyone is gone, and He has been left alone. We are facing some difficult times in this country and all God is asking is that we just walk hand-in-hand with him, continuing to do his good work.

⁣This hit me today – I’m not truly walking hand-in-hand with God. I will work on seeing what I need to learn not what I feel the need share with others. Learning to sit in the presence of the Lord … not the presence of Instagram. Which, by the way, is so much sweeter! There is a shift in my heart on the horizon. I can feel it!

Side note from today – one of my spiritual gifts is pastor/shepherding which, at my core, makes me want to share what I learn and experience. So my struggle is…am I sharing to glorify God or am I sharing to boast about myself? Oh, that God may always be glorified in what I share!!!
